Plymouth PCT/LPC

balance were asked to design and facilitate an event that would build relationships and promote collaborative working between NHS Plymouth, community and secondary care pharmacy. The workshop involved Primary Care Commissioners, Secondary care, Local Pharmaceutical Committee members, community pharmacists and Public Health. Following a highly interactive and productive day, delegates had a better understanding of the national and local strategies which impact on delivery of pharmacy services, had jointly identified the blocks and enablers to delivering quality services and had agreed three pharmacy initiatives they would jointly take forward. Feedback was very positive with most saying that they had got to understand each other much better and that this would improve pharmacy service delivery in the future. Specific actions agreed by individuals included:

  • Review ways of working with LPC (PCT Commissioner)
  • Develop better communication and work outside of silos (PCT Medicines Management)
  • Ensure consideration of pharmacy input through work groups (PCT Commissioner)
  • Further investigate realignment of services to core programmes (secondary care)
  • Communicate strategy for medicines management (secondary care)
  • Continue to engage in the process of meeting with the PCT and developing ideas (CP)
