Deborah started her career as a community pharmacist managing a number of businesses within both the independent sector and with a large regional chain. Later, Deborah joined the pharmaceutical industry, enjoying twelve successful years in sales management and marketing functions. More recently Deborah has combined her pharmacy and senior management corporate experience to work with the NHS, pharmaceutical companies, national and local pharmacy bodies and pharmacists to facilitate strategic planning, support service development and enable change. She is currently Managing Director and owner of The Tipping Point Ltd [also trading as balance], a consultancy dedicated to engaging, inspiring and enabling pharmacists, pharmaceutical sales and marketing teams and NHS commissioners, to deliver excellence and value within the health sector.
In the last five years, Deborah has also been Director of Pharmacy for the National Pharmacy Association, led the highly acclaimed and award-winning Healthy Living Pharmacy [HLP] pathfinder work programme on behalf of the national pharmacy bodies/the Department of Health and been Managing Director of Pharmacy Management Ltd. Elected to the English Pharmacy Board of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Deborah is passionate about doing all she can to enable pharmacists across all sectors to reach their potential in delivering pharmaceutical care. She is currently on the HLP task group and Pharmacy and Public Health Forum, led by Public Health England and is a senior visiting lecturer at King’s College, London.
Deborah feels it is important to keep her pharmacy knowledge up to date and feet firmly planted in the real world so still works regularly in community pharmacy within a GP practice.
Outside of work Deborah adopts the healthy lifestyle she is so keen to see pharmacy promote and has completed a triathlon and several long cycle rides for charity. She is enthusiastic about running, cycling, spinning and practising yoga. Deborah has four children ranging from 26 to 14 years old.
